Our client is a non-for-profit organization located in Tri-cities area. Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Financial Controller will oversee all aspects of financial management, supporting both operational effectiveness and long-term strategic growth. This role will be is responsible for leading the organization’s financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and compliance. This role works closely with internal stakeholders to support program delivery, manage funding requirements, and ensure strong financial governance across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Management & Operations: Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, budgeting, and cash flow management. Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Transactions & Financial Administration: Ensure accurate and timely processing of payables, receivables, payroll, and reconciliations. Maintain complete and organized financial records and documentation.
  • Grants & Contract Administration: Manage financial reporting and compliance for grant-funded programs and contracts. Monitor budgets and expenditures to ensure alignment with funding requirements.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare timely financial statements, reports, and variance analyses. Provide insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
  • Compliance & Audit: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and funding agreements. Lead and Support audit processes and liaise with external auditors.

Qualifications

  • 5–10+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, including financial controllership or senior leadership responsibilities.
  • CPA designation required and MBA preferred
  • Previous experience in not-for-profit or government funded environments is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with administering grants, contribution agreements, restricted funds and contracts, including financial reporting to funders and compliance with agreement terms xperience with accounting systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience preparing financial statements and supporting audts.
  • Proficient with accounting software and systems including Quickbooks and Ceridian PowerPlay
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical skills and attention to details.
  • Occasional regional travel may be required.
